Jumping boats and being yourself

Character imageHow was the movie?

‘It was great!’ – is one way to answer the question.

Another way is – ‘I liked it’.

Think about it and you would realize both are really the same: your personal opinion. Yet we have two answers.

With first you mean -’I liked it and you are going to like it’. With the second you mean – ‘I liked it and I don’t think you’ll like it’.

It is an innate desire of humans to be belonged. To be a part of a tribe.

I’d say, sure, be a part. Join a group and then stand. The people standing in the boat opposite to yours are against you. That is why they are not in your boat. You’d be tempted to jump across when others are not seeing. Hey, my friends are in the other boat, I’d want to be with them. Hey my parents are there in another boat, I don’t want them to be disappointing.

Instead, hold firm and stand. I’m not saying you to be arrogant but stand for what you truly believe in. This is how you be yourself.

Somehow this has been the toughest thing to do. Although we know ” we cannot please the whole world, Do your ‘thing’ anyway”
