At our retreat today was a Moun day (a day of observing silence), from 6am to 6pm, the day being Mouni Amavasya.
It is also considered the holiest bath day in the entire of Kumbh ( also known as Shahi snan). This is the day when the Sadhus of various Akhadas go In processions for th holy dip & bath at the Triveni Sangam.
Our plan was to take blessings from our Guru around 12 and head over to Triveni Sangam for the Shahi snan. However by 10 or so I got messages from my family and friends asking about my well being which is when I got to know about the incident.
We were told that all the gates would be closed, and we wouldn’t be allowed to reach there. Hence we decided to take the holy Mouni Amavasya dip at the Sangam closer to our retreat. We did that. We also collected Ganga water to carry back.

You can easily see that the crowd was normal and manageable on our side. This was not the main area.

Today was a Pranams day in our retreat, a day where every individual attending the retreat is allowed to do a Pranam and seek blessings 1:1. This is a very special possibility for us who revere Sri M because he has changed our lives for the better but also because he is famous and powerful people want his time – out of his compassion for us – he takes our time and physical discomfort I assume to give this time.
Every relationship, every, in my view, is transactional. Take a moment to consider exceptions. Are there? How?
The only exception to this in my mind would be Guru’s compassion & love , where the Guru doesn’t need anything from his devotee. But from the devotees side, while the love might be genuine, she/he still seeks help, guidance, care and protection. Of course the goal is independence.
It is only in the rarest of rare cases – it so happens that a person doesn’t need anything from you, but only give. And that is a person to treasure.
Today evening after the Moun time was completed, our Guru Sri M spoke about the Moun, not just outside (speech) but inside too – the cessation of thought. Mind without ripples. When that happens, it is said that the person is in a state of Turiya (blissful).
He finally concluded: “One day everybody will reach. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next birth, maybe after few births. But the Shastras declare that you will go back to the supreme being”.
