The path to a sane mind

Happiness doesn’t feel as much, as until there has been some suffering.

For the last several hundred years, abundance is abundant!

  • abundance of food – we forgot to feel hungry.
    • order, eat, more
  • abundance of healthcare – a headache – take a pill, fever – take a pill, pain – take a pain killer.
  • abundance of entertainment – in a lift – scroll insta, eating dinner – watch netflix, travelling in metro – whatsapp.
  • abundance of food deliveries – the high of tasty food, always.

In a way, it seems like the ease & abundance became available at a rate that is very fast compared to the time our brains had time to evolve & adapt to this speed. Obviously, we as a species are unable to handle this abundance.

Therefore, now I also question the following:

  • Are cleanliness and hygiene overrated?
  • Lack of constraints is overrated?
  • Planning is overrated?
  • Is being nice overrated?
  • Is being not involved in physical fights overrated?
  • Is being well mannered, soft spoken and cultured overrated?
  • Individualism overrated?

Maybe a bit of insanity, and letting go and mess ups and unplannedness is what’s sane?

I think increase in the abundance of material things has been experienced by every generation, right from the discovery of wheel, fire to the invention of electricity. All the inventions and discoveries have put man’s life at ease. May be the pace at which ease of living has bettered in recent times is much more than it was before. But I believe every generation has struggled with coping with the changing world.
